Our Organic Wines
This area with an altitude benefits from a rare and privileged situation, of course grown in organic environment, the old vines are manually harvested which gives grapes a slow and late maturity and then collected by our “Percheron” horses.
THE WINERY OF
Marc and tine have invested the premises creating a magnificent avant-garde cellar near the small village of Assignan.
Direct sales at the winery, at the
“Epicerie” and in all our restaurants.
The 32 hectares of vineyards are spread over an exceptional terroir. The average age of our vines is more than 50 years, some of which are 150 years old.
These vines naturally produce small volumes of grapes of great quality and great expression, highlighted by the talent of our oenologists Michel Tardieu, Stephanie Cave, Johan Bartholin and Philippe Cambie.
Castigno is committed to sustainable development and does not use chemicals (fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides) in the vineyards and during winemaking. The production is entirely organic, controlled by ecocert.
Sustainability is the motto of Castigno. We try to reduce our ecological footprint in all our production processes.
Our priority is the respect of the soil and vineyards cultivated in organic farming: the vineyard is managed with horses, gently and naturally. The vinification and the aging of our wines are done with care and delicacy, in order to preserve all the integrity of the grape varieties and the so typical terroir of Castigno.
